British Science Week 2019
It's British Science Week in school this week. We have had the opportunity to listen to; by inspired by and interview engineers from many different disciplines such as Royal Engineers; inventors, National Grid engineers, an engineering lecturer from the University of Greenwich and even an engineer who worked on NASA's Cassini probe project which explored Saturn and its moons.
Children are designing their own inventions using the advice from the engineers they have met this week based on the hashtag #ifyouwereanengineerwhatwouldyoudo. Some of the ideas are innovative, genius, potentially life-changing and, in some instances, slightly bizarre! The best designs will be presented to our own panel of 'dragons' in our very own 'Dragons Den'.
Many thanks to MIss Staples for all her hard in organising this week especially all of our fabulous visitors. Many thanks to all of our fantastic engineers who came along to visit and inspire our children.
Miss Staples gave this feedback from some of our visiting engineers. ‘They were all blown away by the amazing questions they were asked. They also took their hats off to the teachers after being around excited, curious children for 4 hours straight!
She also explained that '...we have Paul in today – a project manager from the National Grid. I am going to set up some kind of drop in activity so children can come out of the class for 5 minutes and discuss materials/costings of their design with him.’
