At Brompton-Westbrook we offer a range of support for children who have additional educational needs. This includes teaching assistant support to focus on Literacy and Numeracy skills and experienced with expertise relating to reading, writing, number, speaking and listening and language development.

The Inclusion Team work together with outside agencies, charities and nearby schools to deliver support to children. We also have a pastoral team who offer support for children with emotional, behavioural, and social needs. This support focuses on raising self-esteem, confidence, social and friendship skills. We can also provide a 'listening ear' support to help children who have worries or concerns that they may need to share.

Through the pastoral team we also provide for children with dyspraxia, aspergers syndrome, autism, and attention, behaviour and listening difficulties. For some children who have social, emotional and behavioural difficulties a nurturing environment is available to enhance the children’s full potential. The pastoral team also support each of our new pupils who join the school throughout the year and we aim to make children feel settled as quickly as possible.

Some children will attend sessions in the Personalised Learning Centre where they will be assessed and focus on individual targets. Also, those children that do not speak English as their first language will be assessed and intervention will be planned according to their language needs. The Inclusion team work together with all staff to share children’s targets and strategies.

Children are monitored very closely and targets are set to encourage all children to progress to the levels at which are expected regardless of the needs that they have. The Inclusions Team strive to offer outreach support to parents so that they become involved in their children’s learning, the children’s needs will be discussed regularly. Those children that meet Able and Talented criteria in different areas of the curriculum will access activities and visits to further their learning.
