During this period of lock down, all children in Years 5 and 6 will now be able to access the  Burnet News Club Hub. This is a safe, fully-moderated learning space where children can engage with others around the country.  Right now, students can take two new quizzes, read answers from NHS experts, try activities from Sessions 1-6 on this term's issue: 'The Future of Healthcare,' watch video diaries from the BNC team, share their lock-down experiences and more. To gain access to the resources on the site, your child will need a username and login.  If you would like your child to have the opportunity to engage with the hub, please email the UKS2 email address to request a login.

Messages From Your Teacher

Hello to everyone, we hope that you are all still managing to cope with the current situation and that this message finds you all safe and well. It seems like such a long time since we all have been together and I am sure you are, like all of us teachers, really missing being at school.  We would like to say a really big well done for continuing with your home learning, us teachers are regularly checking Accelerated Reader, TTrockstars and Numbots and we can see the excellent work that is being completed – keep it up! You should have all received by now, your login for Sumdog and you will have noticed that, this week we have set Maths home-learning on it for the Year 6’s, perhaps those of you that complete this, could contact us via the Upper Key Stage 2  email and let us know what you think about it. We are going to be setting Spag work via Sumdog too so watch this space! Remember to keep up with your Accelerated Reader we will be sending you details of a challenge we will be setting the whole phase so keep going! For those of you that have been keeping an eye on the birdbox, you will know that the birds have now laid their eggs and are waiting for them to hatch – it’s a great way to keep up to date with nature and it will be lovely to watch as the chicks hatch and grow. We hope that you have all been managing to keep fit during lock down and enjoying taking part in Joe Wick’s daily work out. I have been doing a daily HIT workout with my daughter since we have been off, I really don’t enjoy it much whilst I am doing it but I am always glad that I have done it afterwards, and I know that it is important to keep myself active. I hope you have been managing to do the same too. I have also been keeping up with my skipping! – so I hope it won’t be too long before I can show off to you all how good I have become (not)!!!

I hope that you have all have enjoyed staring to learn about WW2, which is the topic for Terms 5 and 6. You will see that this week’s topic learning is all about Evacuation and how this affected the children in towns and cities at the beginning of the war. Each week we will aim to cover a different aspect of the war which we hope you will find interesting.

We all hope that it will not be too long before we get to see each other again, in the meantime keep doing your home learning. Remember that you can contact any of us via the Upper Key Stage 2 email, we would love to hear from you, you can also send us pictures and videos to upload on to the website or you can Tweet us. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Take care and keep safe.

Warm regards from us all,

Mrs Tindall.

I hope you are all safe and well. I have really enjoyed the wonderful pictures and excellent work you have been sending in via email or Twitter. It looks like you have been extremely busy making some wonderful home learning. I really miss you all and I cannot wait for everything to be back to normal so I can see you all again! I have been keeping myself busy by planning some lessons and I have started to do some painting at home. My aim this week is to make a colour wheel Pizza! I will share this via Twitter or on here. Keep an eye on the BWPSarts Twitter page as I will be sharing art activities most days and would love to see some of you take part. There are a lot of you in 5/6 who are extremely talented and artistic so it would be great to see your work! I am feeling incredibly proud of you all and we cannot wait to see you all again. Please make sure you relax in this time and keep safe! Remember to use TTrockstars, Accelerated reading and MyOn daily and keep sharing all the amazing work you are doing.

See you soon and stay safe!
