Home Learning Activities During School Shutdown
Our teachers have put together a suggested timetable of learning activities for your children to use. Click here for Term 6 week 6 (Monday 6th July 2020). Children can use the exercise book that was sent home with them to complete this homework.
If you are struggling to access the resources please look below for the website links (under IOS learning) or scroll to the bottom of the page for the documents in the timetable. Some documents are embedded within the task document, so you will need to select Edit Document at the top of the page in order to open them by double clicking on the document. If you have any problems please contact LKS2@thewestbrooktrust.org.
We've also put together a list of some fun activities that you'd might like your children to have a go at. We've designed them so you don't need access to electronic devices! Click on this link to have a look at them.
If you have any queries about home learning you can send an email to the LKS2 team at LKS2@thewestbrooktrust.org As it is not constantly monitored, please note this email address is purely for sending any homework or for any
Children were supplied an exercise book to use for their home learning. In it they were given a list of websites, along with their logins and passwords, to access some of their home learning. .
These are as follows:
To check if a book you are reading at home has a quiz search on this address https://www.arbookfind.co.uk/
As part of the National Curriculum, children are expected to know certain spellings at different points during primary school. These spellings are practised and used in school but your support in running over these would be very beneficial for your child. If you would like to do this then we recommend that you focus on a few spellings at a time and try to make it as fun as you can! There a number of free apps, such as Spelling Notebook, where you can add word lists on to help them practise.
By the end of Year 4, children are expected to be able to know their timestables right up to 12 x 12. Secure and speedy knowledge of timestabl.es is essential not only for primary school maths but also for study up to GCSE level.. We do work on timestables in school ensuring that each child is learning the appropriate timestable for their current ability.
To help with this we have arranged for all of our children in Years 3,.4, 5 and 6 to have access to TT Rockstars which is a fun, web based timestable app. Teachers will set your child the timestables appropriate for them and they will get feedback on how your child gets on enabling teachers to track your child's progress and change the timestables they are working on. Your child will be able to choose their rockstar name and avatar and earn tokens. To find out more take a look at the website by clicking here https://ttrockstars.com/org. You can download, free of charge, an app for tablets and/or mobile phones.
Children have been given a login and password. Please ask your child's teacher if you need a copy.
Remember your child's class teacher would be more than happy to assist you with any of these activities. They will be able to advise different approaches as well as advising on any particular areas of focus.
Many thanks for your support.
